Environmental policy
ECA Lifts recognises that good management includes all environmental matters. To avoid any significant negative impacts on the local and global environment, ECA Lifts has made a corporate commitment to improving its environmental performance by creating an Environmental Policy.
ECA Lifts will ensure that, as far as it is reasonably practicable, all aspects of our activities are conducted in accordance with sound environmental practices by:
- Complying with relevant environment legislation, regulation and industry codes of practice.
- Minimising the consumption of resources (energy and water in operating our premises) and strive to increase the efficiency of use of these resources in the building we occupy.
- Promoting awareness amongst our employees of the environmental policy; including the environmental impact of travel and encourage the use of public transport where possible.
- Providing our environmental policy both internally and externally to all interested parties, on request.
- Reducing the creation of waste by the adoption of improved operating practices and by the recycling of materials whenever practical, in particular paper.
- Ensuring all waste and effluent is disposed of in a safe and responsible manner.
- Expecting similar environmental standards from our suppliers and contractors as part of our commitment towards corporate responsibility in the supply chain.
- Continually seeking to improve our environmental performance.
To achieve these objectives, we will:
Allocate management resources for the effective implementation of the environmental policy.
- Review our environmental policy on an annual basis, to take account of developments in environmental legislation, as well as the expectations of our clients.
- Ensure that suppliers’ environmental credentials are considered in the supplier appraisal process.
- Communicate our environmental policy internally and externally.
- Promote awareness amongst our employees of environmental initiatives that the firm and they, as individuals, could become involved with.
The Directors have responsibility for implementing the environmental policy throughout the firm.
This policy will be subject to review by February 2010.
