Safety management system

We follow the advice of the Health and Safety Executive and organise our safety in a systematic way.

Here’s how it works.

Policy

ECA Lifts has a policy in place outlining commitment from the management team to safety excellence in everything that we do. Achievement of our safety goals ranks as number one in our business objectives.

Providing proper resources for safety is a no-brainer, if it’s required, or makes things better, we do it.

Organisation

A Director has been appointed to oversee safety management within the company. External competent advice has been enlisted and is used proactively.

All supervisors and installation engineers are fully trained in aspects of health and safety related to their work.

Planning and Implemntation

Risk assessments have been undertaken for every aspect of our business where there is a need to do so.

We organise our work and our safe systems of work, based upon the findings of those assessments.

We undertake fresh assessments, for each and every client. Every client is different, so are the risks and the ways of controlling them at each site.

Unlike many organisations, risk assessment is not a paper exercise for us – we keep records – but we also implement the findings of our assessments and tell those that need to know!

Monitoring and Review

Any management system is only of use if it’s been properly implemented and is in use.

Our safety systems ensure that all aspects of what we do are regularly checked by a Director – and that any non-conformances are quickly rectified.

We record and investigate the causes of all accidents, incidents and near misses. All staff and customers (and website visitors!) are invited to make suggestions or comment upon our safety systems.

All feedback, from whatever source is welcomed and we will let individuals who comment know how we intend to improve our systems as a result.

Audit

Our system includes a full management system check at least once per year, or more often if circumstances dictate, or if adverse feedback is received.

We make changes based on the results of this feedback and changes in legislation and aim for continuous improvement to our safety management system.
